Michael Rainey Jr. Joins The R.A.R.E. Foundation to Empower NYC High School Students Through Financial Literacy
Actor Michael Rainey Jr., best known for his role as Tariq in PowerBook II: Ghost, has partnered with The Recovery Education Foundation (The R.A.R.E. Foundation) to lead the “Educate a Student, Protect Yourself” initiative. His mission? To empower New York City high school students with the financial education and identity protection tools they need to secure their future. Michael understands firsthand the importance of financial literacy, and now, he’s using his platform to give back to his hometown of Staten Island and beyond.
Michael’s $2.4 Million Donation to Schools in Staten Island
To kick off his involvement, Michael Rainey Jr. is donating $2.4 million in Equifax credit/identity protection and financial literacy services to three high schools in Staten Island, New York. This donation will provide students with invaluable resources that include:
- One year of Equifax Complete Premier, offering comprehensive credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
- "The Power of Credit" e-book, teaching students the fundamentals of building a strong financial foundation.
- "Who Stole My Identity?" e-book, written by 17-year-old financial literacy advocate Preston "Kid Kredit" Luzunaris, which educates students on how to protect themselves from identity theft.
- A 12-Course Digital Financial Literacy Curriculum, designed to equip students with critical financial skills.
- A FREE Credit Consultation, available remotely or at the Credit Education Center in the Bronx, New York.

About the “Educate a Student, Protect Yourself” Initiative
The Educate a Student, Protect Yourself initiative, led by The R.A.R.E. Foundation in partnership with Equifax, aims to sponsor up to 250,000 NYC high school students by providing them with financial literacy and identity protection services. For every $25 donation, both the donor and a student receive a comprehensive financial literacy package, offering resources valued at $700—$350 for the donor and $350 for the student.
